Our psychologists, social workers and counsellors work with individuals across the lifespan to assist individuals to overcome a range of difficulties and engage actively in all aspects of their lives. CBT, ACT, IPT, DBT skills, and mindfulness are some therapies used.
MENTAL HEALTH ASSESSMENT
Mental health assessments aims to understand a person's emotional and mental well-being, potentially identifying conditions like anxiety or depression, determining risk and directing support.
PLAY THERAPY
A child's natural language is play. In play therapy sessions, toys, games, sand, playdough and other sensory items are used to support children with connecting with their body and identifying how they're feeling. Children often don't have the words to process their emotions however, through play, they can make sense of their world and work through difficult emotions.
More information on play therapy can be found here.
CHILD & ADOLESCENT GROUP THERAPIES
Group sessions provide an opportunity for children to practice skills learnt in individual therapy within a group setting and assist in furthering communication and social skills. Our group sessions generally include 4-6 children of a similar age, and two trained facilitators.
Please contact the office to enquire if groups are running.
EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION AND REPROCESSING THERAPY
EMDR is to reduce symptoms of trauma by changing how your memories are stored in your brain. An EMDR therapist does this by leading you through a series of bilateral (side-to-side) eye movements as you recall traumatic or triggering experiences in small segments, until those memories no longer cause distress. EMDR therapy is on offer for those aged 4+ years.
SINGLE SESSION THERAPY
Single session therapy is available through our clinic. It is a process which helps therapists to make the most of the first, and possibly only, clinical session. The process includes: initial phone contact and the completion of a pre-session questionnaire; one longer than normal face-to-face session; and a follow-up phone call after the face to face session.
