functional capacity assessment

A functional capacity assessment is a systematic approach that helps identify and understand the form, context and function of the behaviour. It aims to define behaviour in specific, observable and measurable terms. It helps to determine what aspects of the environment or situation contribute towards the behaviour and identify the consequences which maintain the behaviour. The assessment also provides recommendations for supports.

  • Interview - 1 hour

The Interview collects extensive developmental history, background information and learning history.

  • Child observation – 1 hour

This provides an opportunity to collect information about the child’s current development and social interactions.

  • Additional assessments – WHO Disability Assessment Schedule 2.0 (WHODAS 2.0); Sensory Profile 2 - 1 hour
